Mahabharat as a daily show!

Some time back it was in news that Mahabharat would be shown as a daily soap just as Ramayan is being shown on a new channel; I was instantly reminded of a saying in hindi ‘ghar mein Ramayan padhi jati hai, Mahabharat nahi!!” I used to wonder why it was so❓

Mahabharata by ved vyasa is the longest epic of this world; originally known as “Jaya” meaning victory for which it is based on the famous Kurukshetra war, has 100,000 verses . Its main subject is a bloody feud between two branches of the ruling family of the northern Indian kingdom of Kurujangala, the Pandavas and the Kauravas. Their conflict culminates in an epic eighteen-day battle and the annihilation of nearly all those involved in the war, except the victors, the five Pandava brothers—Yudhishthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula, and Sahadeva—and a handful of others.

Its mammoth character-list and cultural importance is characterised in the statement “That which is found in Mahabharata can be found elsewhere but that which is not found in it exists nowhere ” by this very statement we can say that its a story of constant struggle, jealousy, hatred; even though all these over shadow truth only for a while and truth ultimately triumphs, the constant struggle among the cousins leads to a great destructive war which wipes off the entire clan. That is the very reason the proverb came into existance; while Ramayana is a story of ideals, Mahabharata is a story of vices, story of individuals who stray from their path of Dharma which is why shri Krishna had to give a message to mankind in the form of “Bhagavad-gita” which is acknowledged as the holy book of hindus.

I was just thinking, since it was in news that KKKKqueen ekta KKKapoor is presenting Mahabharata as a daily show ” Why?! isn’t it enough for her that she’s making shows which are not less then Mahabharata that she’s making another!! Puhleze don’t, we can’t take it anymore.

Kyunki ektaji, as a daily show ghar mein Ramayan dekhi jati hain, Mahabharat nahin!😉
